“[Hair loss] controls your life. At least 50 times a day, you’re thinking about your hair.”
Ryan was 20 years old when his hair began to thin. Desperate for a solution, he decided to try hair fibers he’d seen in a magazine. Although the fibers provided the illusion of more hair, the negatives nearly outweighed the positives. Ryan became obsessed with avoiding bright lights, prolonged eye contact or physical touch that might reveal his secret.
The frantic attempts to conceal his hair loss meant that Ryan lost much more than his hair — he began to lose his confidence, his personality and his ability to enjoy life. He remembers, “Throughout the time that I was wearing the fibers, I was a ‘no’ person. It changed a lot of things about me. I literally remember saying no to so many things I really wanted to do, but I just couldn’t, and that sucked — knowing that it’s not only changing my behavior and my personality, but it’s changing the things I do in life. And if I can’t do the things I want to do in life, then life isn’t all that fun.”
After seven years of browsing the HairDirect website and wondering if a hair system could really work for him, Ryan finally decided to step out and try something new. From the moment his hair replacement consultant placed a custom system on his head, life forever changed. “The moment she was done, I looked in the mirror and said, ‘I look really good.’” Ryan remembers, “For the first time, I had a head of hair and it [looked] real. It didn’t look real before.”
“I can honestly say wearing hair has affected my life in more ways than I even can count. It’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done.”
A custom hair system restored Ryan’s confidence and passion, transforming his personality overnight. Rather than avoiding eye contact out of insecurity, he began engaging others, forming deeper friendships and looking for opportunities to move ahead in his career. He shares, “I can honestly say wearing hair has affected my life in more ways than I even can count. It’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done.”
